प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने आईएएनएस के साथ खास बातचीत में प्रकृति के प्रति अपने प्रेम, धराशायी होती कांग्रेस पार्टी और सबसे अहम पाकिस्तान के पूर्व शुभचिंतकों और उसके आर्थिक मददगारों की घेरेबंदी करने की अपनी व्यवस्थित रणनीति के बारे में बात की. यह एक ऐसी चीज है, जिसका पर्याप्त श्रेय प्रधानमंत्री को नहीं मिलता, जबकि विदेश नीति की शायद यही एकमात्र उपलब्धि रही है. प्रधानमंत्री ने इस दौरान सत्ता में अपनी दूसरी पारी की भी बात की, जिसमें वह पहले से भी कहीं अधिक मजबूत जनाधार के साथ लौटे हैं. उनसे हुई बातचीत के अंश इस प्रकार हैं:

कई बार किसी परंपरागत मुद्दे को उजागर करने के लिए कुछ अपरंपरागत करना अच्छा होता है. मुझे लगता है कि सही उद्देश्य के लिए बात करने और काम करने के लिए हर वक्त सही होता है. हर समुदाय, हर राज्य, हर देश, हर क्षेत्र के लिए कोई न कोई प्रमुख मुद्दा होता है. लेकिन मेरा मानना है कि पर्यावरण संरक्षण का मुद्दा समूह विशेष के सभी मुद्दों को मिलाकर देखा जाए तो उससे भी ज्यादा बड़ा होता है. यह आज हमारी धरती के हर इंसान, हर वनस्पति और हर पशु को प्रभावित कर रहा है. यह मनुष्य की परीक्षा की घड़ी है कि हम कितनी जल्दी और कितने प्रभावी तरीके से अपने स्वार्थ से ऊपर उठकर पूरे विश्व के भले के बारे में सोचें.
भारत की प्रकृति के साथ सद्भावनापूर्व तरीके से रहने की महान परंपरा रही है. पूरे देश में, राज्यों में और विभिन्न संस्कृतियों में प्रकृति के विभिन्न पहलुओं को पवित्र माना जाता है. यह परंपरा स्वत: ही इसके संरक्षण में मदद करती है. एक प्रकार से यह हमारे देश में प्राकृतिक रूप से बना संरक्षण तंत्र है. हमारी परवरिश ही ऐसी है कि हमें प्रकृति के साथ मिलजुल कर रहने की सीख मिली हुई है. हमें केवल इन आदर्शो को याद रखने की जरूरत है. मुझे लगता है कि हम इसमें सफल भी हुए हैं, क्योंकि हाल ही में जारी हुए आंकड़े दिखाते हैं कि बाघों की संख्या में प्रभावशाली रूप से वृद्धि हुई है. यह कार्यक्रम भारत के सुंदर और समृद्ध वनस्पति जगत और जीव-जंतुओं को दुनियाभर में दर्शाने का एक माध्यम रहा. भारत में प्रकृति प्रेमियों के लिए असंख्य स्थान हैं, ऐसे तमाम स्थान हैं, जो विभिन्न प्रकार की वनस्पतियों, विभिन्न प्रकार के वन्यजीवों से समृद्ध हैं.
पिछले पांच सालों में देश में आने वाले पर्यटकों की संख्या में करीब 50 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई है. मुझे पूरा भरोसा है कि बुनियादी ढांचे, कनेक्टिविटी और सुरक्षा को मजबूत करने के लिए बनाई गईं विभिन्न योजनाओं के साथ हम अतुल्य भारत की सुंदरता का अनुभव करने के लिए दुनियाभर से और भी ज्यादा पर्यटकों को आते देखेंगे.
