कोरबा सांसद श्रीमती ज्योत्सना चरणदास महंत ने कोरोना आपदा की घड़ी में 201 करोड़ रुपए का सहयोग प्रदान करने के लिए वेदांता चेयरमैन अनिल अग्रवाल को धन्यवाद प्रेषित किया है। सांसद ने प्रधानमंत्री एवं केन्द्रीय खान मंत्री को प्रेषित अपने पत्र में वेदांता चेयरमैन के द्वारा पलायन करने वाले मजदूरों को कम से कम 8000 रुपए प्रतिमाह की मदद अगले तीन महीने तक भुगतान करने की शासन से अपील, वेदांता समूह द्वारा पूर्व में घोषित 100 करोड़ रुपए की निधि के माध्यम से पूरे देश में दिहाड़ी कामगारों की आजीविका, स्वास्थ्य रक्षा तथा देश भर के अपने विभिन्न संयंत्रों में कर्मचारियों और अनुबंध के अंतर्गत कार्यरत सहभागियों को उत्पन्न परिस्थितियों से जूझने की दिशा में मदद करने, वेदांता समूह द्वारा देश के 10 लाख दिहाड़ी कामगारों तक भोजन पहुंचाने का बीड़ा उठाने व एक महीने तक प्रतिदिन 50 हजार से अधिक घुमंतु पालतू पशुओं के लिए चारा उपलब्ध कराने की पहल का स्वागत किया है।
इसके साथ ही सांसद ने वेदांता चेयरमैन को उक्त पत्र की प्रतिलिपि प्रेषित कर कहा है कि चूंकि देशभर में जारी लॉक डाउन से बालको और इसके आस-पास के क्षेत्रों तथा प्रभावित ग्रामीण अंचलों, गोद ग्रामों के रहवासियों, मजदूरों एवं छोटे व्यापारियों के समक्ष भी रोजी-रोटी का संकट उत्पन्न हुआ है। अच्छा होगा कि इस सेवा की शुरूआत सबसे पहले बालको के 10 हजार प्रभावित दिहाड़ी मजदूरों को भोजन प्रदान करने से करें। बालको व पावर प्लांट के ठेका श्रमिकों के साथ-साथ संयंत्र से प्रभावित श्रमिकों को 3 माह का वेतन व राशन सामग्री प्रदान करें। वेदांता बालको के पोड़ी उपरोड़ा विकासखंड के चोटिया में संचालित निजी कोयला खदान चोटिया, मेनपॉट में बालको बाक्साइट खदान के प्रभावितों को भी राहत प्रदान करने का कार्य सर्वप्रथम करें। बालको व इसके आसपास के क्षेत्रों में विचरण करने वाले घुमंतु मवेशियों के लिए भी चारा की व्यवस्था कराते हुए अपनी घोषणा को मूर्तरूप प्रदान करें
