वॉशिंगटन। भारत के रोहन बोपन्ना अपने पार्टनर आस्ट्रेलिया के मैथ्यू एबडेन के साथ US Open 2023 के पुरुष युगल के फाइनल में पहुंच गए हैं. 43 साल 6 महीने में फाइनल में पहुंचकर रोहन बोपन्ना ने वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड भी बना दिया है. रोहन से पहले कोई अन्य पुरुष खिलाड़ी ( स‍िंंगल्स या डबल्स) में इस उम्र (43 वर्ष 6 महीने) में ओपन युग में किसी ग्रैंड स्लैम फाइनल में नहीं पहुंचा है.रोहन और एबडेन की छठी वरीयता प्राप्त जोड़ी ने फ्रांस के पियरे हुगुएस हर्बर्ट और निकोलस माहुत की जोड़ी को 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 से हराया. बोपन्ना अपने कैरियर में दूसरी बार ग्रैंडस्लैम पुरूष युगल फाइनल में जगह बनाने में सफल हुए हैं. प‍िछली बार 2010 में अपने पाकिस्तानी पार्टनर ऐसाम-उल-हक कुरैशी के साथ यूएस ओपन के फाइनल में पहुंचे थे. तब जोड़ी ब्रायन बंधुओं से हार गई थी. मैच जीतने के बाद रोहन बोपन्ना काफी खुश नजर आए. उन्होंने कहा कि जब हमने पहले सेट में डबल ब्रेक से पिछड़ने से बचने के लिए ब्रेक प्वाइंट बचाने के बाद भी पकड़ बनाए रखी, यह चीज बेहद महत्वपूर्ण थी. हमें लोगों से से बहुत एनर्जी मिली. मैं 13 साल बाद फाइनल में वापस आया हूं, इसलिए मैं बहुत खुश हूं.यूएस ओपन 2023 के पुरुष डबल्स में फाइनल में बोपन्ना और एबडेन आर्थर ऐश स्टेडियम में तीसरी वरीयता प्राप्त अमेरिका के राजीव राम और ग्रेट ब्रिटेन के जो सैलिसबरी से भ‍िड़ेंगे. राम और सैलिसबरी दो बार के यूएस ओपन पुरुष डबल्स के चैंपियन हैं.
