जगदलपुर। कहते हैं लक्ष्य बनाकर कार्य किया जाए तो सफलता जरूर मिलती है। ऐसे ही सफलता जगदलपुर शहर के एक वस्त्रालय में ग्राहकों को कपड़ा दिखाने वाली सेल्स वूमेन ने कर दिखाया है।15 वर्षों के संघर्ष के बाद कांग्रेस की यह संघर्षशील महिला अब जगदलपुर नगर निगम की महापौर है और उनका नाम श्रीमती सफीरा साहू है।
करीब 16 साल पहले मेन रोड जगदलपुर के एक कपड़ा दुकान में सफीरा साहू बतौर सेल्सवुमेन के रूप में मात्र 1200 रुपये महीना की तनख्वाह पर काम करती थीं। संयोग से उन दिनों श्रीमती गीतेश मल्ल जगदलपुर की पहली महिला महापौर थीं। वह उसी दुकान में कपड़े खरीदने जाती थीं, जहां सफीरा साहू काम करती थी। महापौर को उनकी पसंद के कपड़े दिखाना सफीरा को अच्छी अच्छा लगता था, परंतु उसने कभी यह नहीं सोंचा था कि वह भी कभी महापौर बनेगी। जगदलपुर की महापौर सफीरा साहू बताती हैं कि वह पढ़ाई के साथ-साथ कपड़े की दुकान में काम करती थी और अपना खर्च स्वयं वहन करती थी।
उनकी एक बड़ी बहन और छोटा भाई है। माता-पिता का पहले ही निधन हो चुका है। उनका भाई अब्दुल समीर इन दिनों राजनांदगांव जिले के बोर तालाब थाना प्रभारी है। उन्होंने बताया कि पत्रकारिता और राजनीति का शौक उसे बचपन से ही था। उनके राजनीतिक सफर की शुरुआत यूथ महिला कांग्रेस में बतौर सदस्य के रूप में हुई थी। उसके बाद वह वार्डों में सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता की तरह काम करती रहीं। वह पूर्व शहर जिला महिला कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष भी रहीं तथा वर्तमान में प्रदेश महासचिव की जिम्मेदारी भी निभा रही हैं।
इसके अलावा पार्टी द्वारा जो भी जिम्मेदारियां उन्हें समय-समय पर दी गई। उन्हें वह तत्परता से निभाती रही हैं। महापौर निर्वाचित होने का श्रेय संगठन को देते हुए सफीरा साहू ने कहा कि शहर की सफाई, शुद्ध पेयजल, सड़कों का रख रखाव और नालियों की सफाई, बेहतर राशन व्यवस्था, वृद्धा- महिला पेंशन के अलावा निगम के अपूर्ण कार्यों को पूर्ण करवाना उनकी प्राथमिकता होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि राजनीति में आक्षेप तो लगते ही रहते हैं। हमें उन्हें नजरअंदाज कर अपने लक्ष्य की ओर बढ़ना चाहिए।
