जगदलपुर। छात्र जीवन से राजनीति में आकर नवगठित छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य के गृह मंत्री बने मनोज मंडावी ने अपने पैतृक गांव नाथिया नवागांव के स्कूली बच्चों को रोल मॉडल के रूप में छत्तीसगढ़ के प्रथम मुख्यमंत्री अजीत जोगी से मिलवाया था। बच्चों से मिलने के लिए अजीत जोगी मंडावी की स्कूटर के पीछे बैठ स्कूल तक पहुंचे थे। पूर्व मंत्री और वर्तमान में विधान सभा में उपाध्यक्ष रहे मनोज मंडावी का मानना था कि अजीत जोगी बस्तर के लाखों आदिवासी बच्चों के प्रेरक हो सकते हैं, इसलिए आदिवासी बच्चों को उनसे मिलना चाहिए चूंकि अजीत जोगी प्रशासनिक अधिकारी के साथ एक इंजीनियर भी थे, बाद छत्तीसगढ़ प्रदेश के पहले मुख्यमंत्री बने।
बात वर्ष 2000 – 2001 की है। प्रदेश के तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री अजीत जोगी भानुप्रतापपुर के दौरे पर थे। जब वे माकड़ी होते हुए चारामा जा रहे थे। तब साथ चल रहे प्रदेश के गृहमंत्री मनोज मंडावी ने उन्हें जानकारी दी कि उसके गांव नाथिया नवागांव में आदर्श स्कूल है। जहां नेताओं की नहीं अपितु स्कूल की दीवारों पर सिर्फ मेधावी बच्चों की तस्वीरें लगतीं हैं। इस बात से प्रभावित होकर अजीत जोगी नाथिया नवागांव चौक में अपनी गाड़ी रुकवा कर एक स्कूटर में बैठकर स्कूल गए थे यहां मुख्यमंत्री अजीत जोगी ने बच्चों से पढ़ाई और स्वास्थ संबंध जानकारी ली थी। मनोज मंडावी ने अजीत जोगी का परिचय कराते हुए बच्चों को बताया था कि आप हमारे छत्तीसगढ़ के पहले आदिवासी मुख्यमंत्री हैं। उन्होंने अपनी योग्यता के बल पर इंजीनियर बनें, कलेक्टर रहे और अब मुख्यमंत्री हैं। अजीत जोगी ने बच्चों को समझाया था कि हर कोई मेहनत और लगन के प्रति गंभीर होकर अपने लक्ष्य को प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। यह वाकिया लगभग 22 साल पुराना है। आज ये दोनों हमारे बीच नहीं हैं। मनोज मंडावी हॉस्टल से लेकर ग्राम स्तर तक सब के चहेते रहे। उनकी यह सादगी और आदिवासी समाज के बच्चो के सुखमय भविष्य की सोच हमेशा बस्तरवासियों दिशा देती रहेगी।
