कोरबा लोकसभा क्षेत्र की सांसद श्रीमती ज्योत्सना चरणदास महंत के द्वारा सांसद निर्वाचित होने के बाद से ही संसदीय क्षेत्र की समस्याओं का निराकरण के लिए काफी गंभीरता से पहल व प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। संसद में जहां वे मुखर होकर विभिन्न मुद्दों पर अपनी बात रखकर सवालों के जवाब भी हासिल कर रही हंै तो दूसरी विकास परक मुद्दों और मामलों को प्रमुखता से संबंधित विभाग के मंत्री के समक्ष उसका निराकरण कराने में भी कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ रहीं। श्रीमती महंत के प्रयासों को एक बड़ी सफलता कोरिया जिले में मिली है। यहां सड़कों के लिए 406 करोड़ की मंजूरी सांसद के द्वारा सौंपे गए मांग पत्र पर केन्द्रीय परिवहन मंत्री नितिन गडकरी ने दी है।
सांसद के प्रयासों से मिली इस बड़ी सौगात से अब कोरिया जिले के ग्रामीण अंचलों में भी आवागमन की सुविधा सहज हो जाएगी। केन्द्रीय परिवहन मंत्री नितिन गडकरी ने सांसद के मांग पत्र पर कोरिया के कठौतिया मोड़ से जनकपुर बड़वाही 128 किमी के लिये 285 करोड़, बैकुंठपुर-सोनहत एनएच-15 मेेण्ड्रा से रामगढ़ 30 किमी के लिए 45 करोड़, बिहारपुर बद्रा-सोनहत मार्ग 28 किमी के लिए 76 करोड़ रुपए की स्वीकृति दे दी है जिसके बाद सड़कों का निर्माण होगा। कोरिया जिले की जनता ने इस महत्वपूर्ण सौगात के लिए अपने सांसद के प्रति आभार जताया है वहीं केन्द्रीय परिवहन मंत्री को भी धन्यवाद प्रेषित किया है।
